Stories Under Your Skin
March 3 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Discover the power and meaning of life stories (our personal histories) as part of the larger history of humankind with professional storyteller Mary Louise Chown! The ancient medium of storytelling is even more relevant today. No special equipment is needed; only your voice. Learn how to tap into this accessible form of communication to enhance your skills for both your personal and professional life.
This is how Mary Louise Chown explains her artistic journey:
As far back as I can remember, I’ve always drawn and painted. I taught school for many years in Winnipeg and also toured with the Manitoba Arts Council “Artist–in–Schools” Program.
After graduating from Fine Arts in 1994, I enjoyed renting a studio in Winnipeg’s Exchange District. My art installation, “The Skin Of This Planet” has been shown in Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Inuvik, NWT.
My main art form for the last 20 years has been storytelling, but since moving to our farm near River Hills, I have been able to return to drawing, painting and teaching art in the Eastman area.
Visual art and storytelling both use imagery and metaphor to express the beauty and variety of the world we live in and our deepest hopes and cares. I love to add the sounds of bodhran drum and hammered dulcimer to many of my stories.
Doors open at 6:30 PM to give you and your fellow storytellers a chance to mingle and get to know one another. Sessions start at 7:00 PM.
Sessions are $10.00 each or $40.00 for all 8 classes!
